- What is Turnstile?
-
Turnstile is my version of a fast, non-intrusive mobile app for
the New York City subway.
-
It gives you the bare minimum information needed to stay informed
about which train(s) to take.
- Who is this app for?
-
This app is for people who know where they're going and just need
to know the current status and situation of the subway.
-
There are several better apps for people who need additional info
such as maps, which trains to take to get to a destination, etc.
- Why did you build this app?
-
As a New Yorker, I really wanted an app that gives me the bare
minimum information needed to make quick decisions when using the
NYC subway.
-
I loved the original MTA website's service status page, which I
used for inspiration for Turnstile's service status screen.
- The app train times are inaccurate. What's going on?
-
I apologize for any inaccurate train times. The app uses the MTA's
API, from which I can only pull every minute or so. This means
that the train times you see in the app may be a minute or two off
from the actual train times. I try my best to accomodate for this!
- Will the app support a live route map?
-
There are no current plans to do so. Truth is, there are several
apps that do this much better than I can, and I really wanted to
focus on the core functionality of Turnstile: which is to provide
quick, easy subway information.
- Can I give you feedback?
-
Please do! I'd love to hear your thoughts on how to make Turnstile
a better experience. Feel free to email me at
contact@turnstile.city. Looking forward to hearing from you!
